Abstract
Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of ligation and resection of hourglass membranes for emergency cervical cerclage in incompetentent cervix.

Materials and Methods: Hourglass chorioamniotic membranes were ligated with laparoscopic Endo-Loop and redundant membranes were resected for the patients whose fetal membranes were persistently prolapsing through cervical canal even after emergency cerclage.

Results: The procedure was performed in two indicated cases. Pregnancy was prolonged for 7 weeks and living baby was born at 28th weeks of gestation in the first case. Second case was terminated as a stillbirth at 22th weeks of gestation 2 weeks after the procedure.

Conclusion: This procedure is anticipated to be useful for prolongation of pregnancy long enough for live birth in which abortion is inevitable due to unreducible hourglass membranes in incompetent cervix.
